Labor Law Updates

The District of Columbia Universal Labor Law poster has been released by the District of Columbia, Department of Employment Services. A new law requires all employers to post the universal poster of employee rights summary in a conspicuous place accessible to all employees. Order Updated Poster >

The Oregon OSHA poster has been updated to reflect a new law regarding an employee’s right to refuse to perform dangerous work. A new law prohibits employers from retaliating or discriminating against an employee who refuses to perform a hazardous task that would expose them to imminent danger or serious physical harm and there is no reasonable alternative. The Michigan Fair Employment poster has been updated to reflect a new law expanding the state’s law that prohibits race discrimination to include discrimination based on hair texture and protected hairstyles. In addition, the new law extends prohibitions on discrimination to include discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. Order Updated Poster >

The Delaware Workers’ Compensation poster has been updated to reflect that employers shall (rather than should) carry workers’ compensation insurance coverage. The poster was also updated with a new email address to contact the Delaware Division of Industrial Affairs - Workers’ Compensation. Order Updated Poster >

The Nevada OSHA poster has been updated to reflect new mandatory penalty amounts for each serious violation, non-serious violation, and daily penalty for failing to correct a violation. Order Updated Poster >

The Ohio No Smoking poster has been updated to reflect that e-cigarettes/vaping is prohibited in places of employment. Order Updated Poster >

The Kentucky OSHA poster has been updated to reflect that certain employers are required to submit injury and illness data electronically to osha.gov. The agency name has also been changed to the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet. Order Updated Poster >

The Kansas Human Trafficking poster has been released by the Kansas Office of the Attorney General. A new law requires employers to post a notice in the workplace offering help to victims of human trafficking. The notice must be posted in a prominent and accessible location in the workplace. The Illinois VESSA poster has been updated with a new website address employees can use to file a complaint with the Illinois Department of Labor. The poster was also updated with the addition of fax numbers for the different Department of Labor office locations. Order Updated Poster >

The Illinois Paid Leave poster has been updated with a telephone number employees can use to file a complaint with the Illinois Department of Labor, Leave Rights Division. The poster was also updated with information regarding frontloading paid leave. Employers may provide employees with all paid leave hours at the start of a 12-month period and any unused frontloaded leave does not have to be carried over.
